A little softcover book with sections on history, techniques, and collecting pewter. Books: Pewtering Techniques and Processes The Techniques of Pewtersmithing by Charles Hull & Jack Murrell B.T Batsford Ltd., 4 Fitzhardinge Street, London, W1H 0AH Published 1984. A fine reference book, covering casting and other techniques. It includes a list of suppliers in the USA and the UK. I've heard recently that this book is out of print - but if you are serious about pewter work, it's worth looking for a copy on the second-hand book market. Pewter-Working: Instructions and Projects by Burl N. Osburn and Gordon O. Wilber Dover publications Inc., 180 Varick Street, New York, N. Y., 10014. Published 1979 (Reprint of a 1938 publication). A how-to guide with projects including sand casting and spinning, using traditional manual techniques. Modern Pewter Design and Techniques by Shirley Charron Van Nostrand Reinhold Ltd, Litton Educational Publishing, Inc., 450 West 33rd Street, New York, NY, U.S.A., 10001. Published 1973. Another guide with technical information and projects, mostly about working with sheet pewter. Books: The History of Pewter Pewter: A Celebration of the Craft, 1200-1700 by Peter R.G Hornsby, Rosemary Weinstein, and Ronald F. Homer The Museum of London, London Wall, EC2 Published 1989. A beautifully illustrated book about the history of pewter in England. Books about Pewterers and Pewtersmiths For the Love of Pewter: Pewterers of Canada by Douglas A. Shenstone The Metal Arts Guild, 1179 King St. West, Suite 007, Toronto, Ontario, M6K 3C9. Published 1990. This book is mainly a guide to the pewterers of Canada, and is now a little out-of-date.
