father  forgive me
for you are crazy
forgive me
because you never understood
could never accept love
never understood love
never understood books
understood cars & tractors
never understood me
but found my distance

forgive me
as i forgive you père

we are standing on the edge of the lake
holding hands
& you are afraid
i am mostly for you

but you must step in soon
& be sucked down
in that cold fall water
