A NOTE FOR NON-PHILOSOPHERS

This Web site has a great deal of philosophy on it. But the philosophy on this site is written more for non-philosophers than philosophers. Philosophers are mostly academics. They are used to the jargon of philosophy which, on this site, I try to explain. They are sophisticated from years of learning. This site is somewhat naïve.

So if you aren't interested in the philosophy on this site, no problem. There are many other essays and poems here. Most people don't believe they need to study philosophy. As an academic field, philosophy has been burdened with a jargon that has gradually taken it away from ordinary people.

Originally, philosophy was for ordinary people. It was a Wisdom, or series of wisdoms, that tried to provide an understanding of the world around and of what people ought to do. But gradually it became encrusted with hard words.

I've designed the parts of this site that are about philosophy to teach you some of its hard words, as well as some of the ideas of the philosophers commonly reputed great. I have also snuck in some of my own ideas, my own philosophy if you will.

Philosophy has to be a little hard, but not a lot. Once you understand the academic encrustation (academics have to keep their jobs after all, and writing about trendy areas with new obfuscatory terms is one way of doing it) you can learn a lot about philosophy and even about having a better life.
