The primary subplot in Hektor and Andromake is the struggle of Andromake to help her husband and prove her love for him. In her main act, she goes in disguise into the Akhaean camp to plead with Akilleus or to kill him. A second subplot is the struggle of Agamemnon to manipulate Helenus, Hektor's estranged brother, to kill Hektor so that Agamemnon can take control of the city and destroy it.
