the poet plunged, acid
taste of earth in his mouth;
remembered no more Rowley, myth,
the coming Romantic age
or mysterious South,

but joined the inheritors of renown
spinning in cold, thick Night:

on Death's apocalyptic page
he joined their journey to the Light
