SHAMUS O'REILLY

SHAMUS O'REILLY, the head of O'Reilly Investigations, is of medium build [5' 10", 160 lbs] with thinning wispy brown hair and brown eyes. His face is slightly crooked for some reason. He has certain odd habits, likes twitches, facial stretches, and the ability to carry on a conversation with himself even if there are others around.

Shamus has a particular style of dress, retro `dick': trenchcoat with belt, brimmed hat, jacket, trousers with pleats, white shirt and tie. He prefers things the way they `were.' He still carries a S & W 44, even though he has a beam gun. He still shaves with a straight razor. He smokes a pipe with a particulary strong blend of tobacco [1/2 latakia, 1/4 Irish flake, 1/8 Maduro, 1/8 secret?] While he finds this tobacco very satisfying, others find its order rather putrid.

Shamus has few friends, but is extremely loyal to the those he has. When Shamus first `arrived,' he was put up by Jonny Archer, the owner of the Lite `N Easy (an old style dive on Culver between 3rd & 5th). He later helped Jonny with a `personal' matter. A couple of years later, he was hired by Captain Cherry Roberts he needed help with a trumped up murder rap. Shamus later opened a mobile office on Robert's ship, the Formosus.

Shamus' land based office is in the Plumber Building on Garfield between 5th & 6th. Across the hall is the office of Cherry Roberts. Shamus' rooms are in the Carlton Arms, one step up from a flea bag, on the corner of Portland and 5th.

He is extremely loyal to the few friends he has, and might make. Should anything happen to them, his code of honor, friendship and loyalty, would demand satisfaction of some sort. His `past,' if he really has one, flashes through him occasionally, or is it just a scene or chapter? Does anyone really know?

Shamus has been known to be absent minded - unless focused, directed on a case, can lose himself in pictures or paragraphs of his memory. He will lose his temper, but these outbursts are usually linked to someone messing with his friends. He is very curious. He has, by now, touched every button on the Formosan, but so many other buttons, so little time! (sigh). More disturbing than his absent minded comfortable drifts, he experiences sudden, and often disturbing flashes not from the 22nd century. For someone in his line of work, he has a very low pain threshold; does not enjoy fist fights because they hurt!

On the other hand, he has a knack for knowing when danger is approaching, recovers well, has a stick to it ness, and allows little to truly bother him.

Shamus is a competant investigator. Quick, resourceful, and intelligent, he has all the basic skills needed in his line of work. He specializes in finding the lost, whatever or whoever they may be. His ability to research and hack are second to none.

Were someone to look into his background, he would find that Shamus' began with his arrival in Phoenix in 2120. He does not seem to have existed before this time. He worked out of the `Lite `n Easy' until 2121, when he opened O'Reilly Investigations. By 2122 he had made a name for himself as a mildly successful investigator specializing in missing persons, places, and/or things. His major success came in 2123 when he cleared Captain Cherry Roberts on a phoney murder rap. In 2124 he opened a mobile office branch on the Formosus.
