The motto of our website is given below:
The golden past vanishes away from the rude reality of our life. There is no enough time to search it. So if any one presents this everlasting universal golden days with decoration, then there is no any question of deny. The golden past that strengthens the future emerges itself through library. Library discloses it from the background.
We want to highlight the period which runs from 1850 to 1950. This period is the golden era of Indian culture. The innumerable Bengalees who had to leave their mother land and spreads all over India and abroad are our target. They want to recollect their culture eagerly only in occassions.
We want to reach that forgotten immemorial past in their grip. The outlook and characteristics of library changes in according to time and nature of thought. So, e-library was born. I wish, never I should have come to situation that forces me to write you. This is regarding GITABITAN ARCHIVES CDs compiled and marketed by Dr. Purnendu Bikash Sarkar in Calcutta. I acquired these CDs at a cost of Indian Rs2, 500. One of these contains Bengali fonts and is user friendly. The second CD contains Tagore's songs. I could not install the 2nd CD following the instructions of the vendor:
* Insert the installer CD in CD/DVD drive & follow the installation wizard.*
I am using Windows XP platform with enough RAM and Disc space
I spoke with Dr. Sarkar on phone and also exchanged several emails to squire off and settle the problem. I even mailed Belrac report of my computer to him. I have not yet got any customer support from him, or indication any inclination to replace the CD or reimburse the money. I am not very happy over this.

2. Applications form must be filled up and should have the following:.
i) Requisite visa fee by way of draft/postal order in favour of Consulate General of India, Toronto (NO CASH WILL BE ACCEPTED)..
ii) Two identical photographs of each applicant..
iii) Self-addressed pre-paid envelope(s) in respect of each application.
3. In the normal course, passports of Canadians born in Canada and Persons of Indian Origin will be despatched within THREE (03) working days (excluding the day of receipt and despatch). Prabasi Bengali School of Berkeley/Oakland, California. With Dr. Meera Hira
M. Smith as my co-author, we have written a book called Easy Way to Learn
Bengali. The book has 270 pages, 100 chapters and four audio CDs for about
five hours of Bengali practicing. The details can be found at the web site
and in the attachments below.
We wrote the book primarily for the children growing up outside Bengal and
whose parents may not speak it at home, sometime due to the fact that one of
the parents is non-Bengali. In my school, which is 28 years old, I am seeing
more students of such background. But the book can also be used by
non-Bengali adults, travelers, people involved in business, and others for
self-learning and also as a teaching tool.
We showed the book at the recent Los Angeles North America Bengali
Conference. The book was received enthusiastically. Many people bought
copies and we had to get another lot printed. People from many places such
as St Louis, Troy, Terra Haute, New York, Boston, California, Perth
(Australia) etc bought it for themselves or for potential use in the local
Bengali schools. A professor from Perth bought the book. He is doing shrimp
farming related research in Bangladesh and wanted to learn Bengali to
communicate with the fellow researchers and workers in Bangladesh. I was
wondering if there is such opportunity of distributing the book in your area
amongst the people you know who could benefit from enhancing their Bengali
speaking ability. I will be grateful if you could give me some advise on
this or refer me to others.
Ours is a non-profit effort, only to spread the beauty of our language. A
commercial book of this dimension would cost a lot more but we are selling
the book and four CDs for US $40 (plus postage) at cost.

for MS Word 97/2000/XP that allows easy typing of Bangla. I believe it is
more compatibile, flexible and easier to use than traditional systems, and
has a host of features such as Bangla->English->Bangla transliteration and
