Mississauga Scuba Club

About the Club

The Mississauga Scuba Club is a non-profit organization, affiliated with the City of Mississauga Recreation and Parks Department. Our goals are to promote the sport of scuba diving in Mississauga and to provide an opportunity for local certified divers to get together and organize a busy schedule of dive charters and social events at the lowest possible cost. The club is democratically run with an executive elected on a yearly basis.

We are a non training club catering primarily to already certified divers, though we do have associate memberships for non-divers. Through our affiliation with the City of Mississauga, pool time is available to club members. As an introductory offer to our club, divers graduating from their Open Water course are eligible to receive MSC membership for the balance of that year for only $20, covering only the cost of OUC Membership and Liability Insurance.

The Club holds regular monthly meetings (8:00pm the 3rd Monday of each month). In the winter these are at the Burnhamthorpe Community Centre. During the summer months we hold informal barbecues at member’s houses. The meetings provide opportunities to meet other divers, hear presentations from guest speakers and discuss upcoming dives and potentially new dive locations. Guests are always welcome.

The MSC runs dive trips roughly every second weekend during the season (see our Current schedule). During the summer these are weekend trips, usually with a chartered dive boat at a cost of $40 to $80.00 a day depending on boat, location etc. Typically we have 12 to 16 divers on board of varying experience levels and run 2- 3 dives per day. The dive coordinator for that weekend will help you select an appropriate buddy and dives to match your comfort level. We usually organize group camping and the weekends become great social occasions

During the colder Spring and Fall months we run day trips, mostly single shore dives including ice dives in winter

Most of our diving is in the Great Lakes on ship wrecks. You will see everything from well preserved old wooden schooners to huge modern freighters. The dive map shows our "local" dive destinations. We organize longer trips to eastern Quebec, British Columbia, Florida and the Caribbean where the diving is more varied and colorful.

Membership is $40 per year (individual), $70 per year (family). The club also has $15.00 per year associate (non-diver) to participate in non Diving events and receive the club newsletter. Membership forms are available online or pick up a membership form from Aqua System, Mississauga Diving, Oakville Divers or Brampton Scuba.

The Mississauga Scuba Club has been established since 1978.
