SALVATION QUESTION 94

QUESTION 94
Does a person have to have faith to be saved?

ANSWER:
I am not sure where you are coming from, but if you mean along with your works, then you are mistaken. You do not need works to be saved. "...not of works, lest any man should boast." Ephesians 2:9. "Not by works of righteousness that we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us..." Titus 3:5.

If you mean, can faith save you(?), the answer is "No! It is not "IN" faith but "BY" faith in Christ that we can be saved. Put that same faith in anything or anybody else and it is unable to save. "For by grace (God's part) are ye savedp; THROUGH faith (our part)..." Ephesians 2:8. Paul speaks of young Timothy, saying, "And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation THROUGH faith which is in Christ Jesus." 2 Timothy 3:15.Again, "And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the heathen THROUGH faith, preached before the gospel unto Abraham, saying, In thee shall all nations be blessed." Galatians 3:8.

It is not the faith that saves, it is the object that your faith is in. This is in the Lord Jesus Christ, and His sacrifice for our sins on the cross. Many people have faith in something or somebody, but it is faith in Christ alone that saves.

Dear Reader, let me ask you, "Have you trusted Christ completely for salvation? Repentance and faith is God's order. Read Acts 20:21 and Mark 1:15. Do it today!
