SALVATION QUESTION 93

QUESTION 93
I have always believed that Jesus died for my sins. Why can't I know that I am saved?

ANSWER:
This is the common problem with many that have heard and believe the gospel. There is only one way you can know that Jesus died for your sins. This is because the Bible tells us so, and we could not believe it otherwise. No other book or source of information, tells us the gospel.

Your problem is twofold. Either you do not trust completely in the Lord Jesus Christ as your Saviour, or you do not believe. The Bible says you are saved by believing. "He that believeth on the Son HATH everlasting life." John 3:36. I cannot tell you whether you are trusting in the Son or not? If you are and don't know you are saved, then you do not believe this verse. You do not believe God. According to 1 John 5:10, you are making Him what He is not, a liar. This is a very serious charge.

The same Book that tells us Jesus Christ died for us, also tells us that we have eternal life by believing (trusting) Him. You, like many others seem to believe one thing, but not the other. It is not enough to believe about the Lord Jesus Christ, you must actually TRUST Him 100% to save you from your sins. If you can trust Him to save you, you can believe what God says,"...HATH everlasting life."

I know and I believe that Jesus Christ died for my sins. How? Because the Bible tells me so. I know I am saved. How? Because the same Bible tells me so. Put your trust fully in the Lord Jesus and believe God and rejoice in His salvation. The jailer did a bit more than believing on the Lord Jesus Christ. He "believed in God." Acts 16:34
