SALVATION QUESTION 80

QUESTION 80
How can we know for sure if the Bible, and its message of salvation, is true?

ANSWER:
I might ask how do we know there is a place in Asia called Tibet? Man has told us that, and we believe it. This is faith in what man told us. There is little doubt in our minds that there is such a place. Historians have written about it, people have been there, and it is often in the news.

By the same token we can know there is a heaven and a hell. There is sin and salvation. God says so in 1 John 5:9, "If we receive the witness of men, the witness of God is greater: for this is the witness of God which he hath testified of his Son." So we believe what man tells us, why is it so hard to believe what God tells us? This verse says His witness is greater than man's. Man can lie and deceive us, but not God. Titus 1:2 says, "...God cannot lie..." If He states a truth, or makes a promise, we can be sure it is truth.

Now, what is His witness of His Son? 1 John 5:11-12, "And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life." This is why God inspired men to write the Bible, so we may KNOW that we HAVE eternal life. (1 John 5:13).

Dear reader, another way of knowing the Bible is true, is to believe it. Once you accept its truth about your sinfulness before a holy God and His provision for you at Calvary, then you will have no doubts that it is true. Let me ask you, have you done that yet? Eternity without God's salvation is hell forever. Your choice now will determine where you go. Take Christ and be saved today.
