SALVATION QUESTION 77

QUESTION 77
Why is it that so many say they believe on Christ and yet they say they are not saved?

ANSWER:
This is a common thing. I suppose every saved person could say that they "believed on Christ" before they were actually saved. There is a vast difference in believing in Christ, and trusting Him to save you from all of your sins. There is also a vast difference about believing on Christ and "believing God." We read in Romans 4:3, "Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness." He did not this believing there was a God, or about Him, he actually believed what God said to him.

The key to salvation is trusting Christ, and BELIEVING GOD. In 1 John 5:9-12, God gives a testimony of His Son. This must be believed in order to be saved.  Faith is nothing more than "believing what God says." What does He say? He said He has given to us eternal life, 1 John 5:11, and this life is in His Son. He then says, if you have the Son you have the life. He adds, 1 John 5:13, "These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God."

The problem with some people, they have never really trusted and received Christ, or they do not believe God. In either case, this is fatal.

Dear reader, "Have you come as a sinner to Christ and trusted Him as your Saviour? Do you believe God?
