It is generally believed that there will be a time in the future when all people will stand before God and be judged for their sins. Is this according to the Bible?

ANSWER:
This is universally believed and is necessary to man's thinking that he will be saved or lost by his works; However, this is most unscriptural and wrong. There are two distinct judgment days for sin. One is past and took place at the cross. In John 12:31, we read, "Now is the judgment of this world." Jesus is talking about going to the cross. God laid our iniquities on Him, Isaiah 53:6. He died for our sins, 1 Corinthians 15:3. To all those that accept Him they are forgiven and will never be judged for those sins. "...shall not come into condemnation (judgment - John 5:24 "No condemnation (judgment), Romans 8:1. All those that do not trust Him as Saviour from sin will stand before the great white throne and be judged-Rev 20:11-15. This will be to determine their just degree of punishment in hell.

My judgment day is past. I have been forgiven. God says "He remembers my sins no more."Hebrews 10:17 This is true of every born-again Christian. This is the blessedness of sins forgiven, Psalms 32 and Romans 4:6

In view of the finished work of Christ at Calvary, I must say that a general judgment is just another traditional heresy that people gullibly believe. If you are not a Christian, I would exhort you kindly to sincerely repent of your sins and receive by faith the Lord Jesus Christ as your Saviour from sin and so from judgment. This is the Bible way of salvation. There is no other. He said "I am THE WAY, the TRUTH and the LIFE, NO MAN cometh to the Father but by me." John 14:6
