SALVATION QUESTION 175

QUESTION 175
If I get saved will I have to leave the faith I was brought up in?

ANSWER:
I am not sure what you mean here. If you mean your faith in the religion you were trusting in, then by all means you must take your faith out of that religion and put it in Christ. If you never take you body out, your faith must come out. There is no salvation in religion.

There is only one faith in the Bible. That is faith in Christ. Paul in writing about Christians, said, We are all children of God by faith in Christ Jesus. Galatians 3:26. There are countless thousands that are trusting in their religion to save them. Their hope is in it. They attend, give and support their religion, so that they might eventually get to heaven. That is "...a way that seemth right to a man but the end thereof are the ways of death." Proverbs 14:12.

Basically, religion is man working his way up to God. Salvation is God coming down to man, in the Person of Christ. His work alone saves. It is nothing we do FOR Christ but what we do WITH Him. As long as one is hung up on religion they can never be saved. They must take their trust out of it and put it in Christ. The principle of works to be saved is contrary to grace. It cannot be both. Galatians 2:21. "I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain." The word "frustrate" means to disregard. That is, if you are seeking salvation by works, you are disregarding the grace of God. This is an offence to the Person of God who gave His Son to die for you.

Dear reader, why not quit trying and trust. It works! All the trying you could ever do, will not take away one sin you ever committed; but, "..the blood of Jesus Christ God's Son cleanseth us from all sin." 1 John 1:7 Have you dear reader trusted Him yet? Sin has been dealt with at the cross.
