SALVATION QUESTION 174

QUESTION 174
I am doing the best I can, are you saying that is not enough? I don't think God will not turn me away.

ANSWER:
It really doesn't matter what I say or what you think, it is what God says. He says, "There is NONE GOOD, but one, that is, God." Mark 10:18. Again, "There is not a just man upon earth that doeth good and sinneth not" Ecclesiastes 7:20.

Your thinking is compatible with Proverbs 14:12 " There is a way that seemeth right unto a man but the end thereof are the way of death" Are you really doing the best you can? Could you not have done better? Have you always done the best you could? If you honestly examine the ten commandments can you truthfully say, "I have never broken one of them" Sin to us can be very insignificant. We see sin in others and it seems normal, because we have it in ourselves. To really see sin one must see the holiness of God. Sin is so hateful to His nature that He cannot look favourably on it at all, Habakkuk 1:3. He will by no means justify the wicked, Exodus 23:7. God requires that which is past (sins), Ecclesiastes 3:15. When we see our sins before God we will then know that doing the best I can will not forfeit that which is past. One sin drove Adam away from God. One sin will keep you out of heaven.

God only has one way to forgive sin. It has been dealt with by the sacrifice of Christ. "For Christ also has once suffer for sins, the just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God." - 1 Peter 3:18. "There is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus." - 1 Timothy 2:5. Jesus said, " I am the way, the truth and the life, no man cometh to the Father but by me." - John 14:6. Again, "I am the door, by me if any man enter in he shall be saved." - John 10:9
