SALVATION QUESTION 15

QUESTION 15
If I trust Christ as my Saviour how will I know that I am saved for sure?

ANSWER:
A very important question. I well remember more than forty years ago battling with this question. As a sinner I called on the Lord to save me. I waited after asking for something to happen, but nothing did, so I rightly concluded that I wasn't saved. I think most people relate this knowledge of salvation to feelings instead of facts. The only way we know that Christ died for our sins is not through feeling, but the Holy Scriptures. We accept that as a FACT. God says it I believe it.

This is the sum of faith. Likewise God says, if your "believe on His Son you HAVE EVERLASTING LIFE." - John 3:36. How do I know it? God says it and I believe it. That is faith. Believing God is not a common thing among professors of Christianity. Many believe there is a God, but they really don't believe God.

Salvation is dealing with facts, not just feelings. The fact is we are sinners in His sight - Ecclesiastes 7:20, Romans 3:10 and Romans 3:23. The fact is Christ died for sinners - 1 Timothy 1:15 and 1 Corinthians 15:3-4. The fact is, if you trust in Him you will be saved - Acts 16:31, "Believe (trust, depend on) on the Lord Jesus Christ and THOU SHALT BE SAVED." God says it. Faith is believing it. It works in your life when you do. John writes to believers in 1 John 5:13 "These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God, that YE MAY KNOW that YE HAVE ETERNAL LIFE." How do we know? What more secure answer could we have than that of the ONE who cannot lie. - Titus 1:2.

Now don't believe this verse unless it is written to you. If you have faced the other facts then you can enjoy this one. It will bring feelings - peace and joy.
