SALVATION QUESTION 139

QUESTION 139
Often there are times when I feel my faith is being tested. I know I have salvation, but the problem is, it seems like my salvation becomes "lost" when it is tested, and then found again once I read the Bible. Does salvation ever become "lost," and if it does, what if I were "lost" at the moment of my death?

ANSWER:
There is a vast difference between our relationship with God and our fellowship. By repentance and faith in our Lord Jesus Christ we are born again. This establishes a relationship with God whereas we become children of God. "For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus." Galatians 3:26. This relationship, like our family relationship, never changes or varies. I am no more or no less a child of God then I was forty-six years ago when I trusted Christ as my Saviour.

My fellowship is another thing. It can be on and off and up and down. It depends more on us. We must be feeding our souls on the good things of the Lord and not the things of the world. We cannot live in darkness or sin, and have fellowship with God. "But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin." 1 John 1:7.

If you are really saved by trust only in the sacrifice of Christ for your sins, then don't confuse your relationship with God with your fellowship. In order to enjoy the relationship it is necessary to maintain good fellowship with Him.

Dear reader, if you are not saved you have neither relationship or fellowship with Him. Do trust in Christ to be born again today?
