SALVATION QUESTION 134

QUESTION 134
Another question about the "things that accompany salvation," are found in Hebrews 6:9. What are these things that accompany salvation today?

ANSWER:
This is a very important question since there are many churches. Many of these churches have very low standards, amongst the professing Christians.

The first thing that should accompany salvation is the confessing of Christ as Saviour and Lord. "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved." Romans 10:9. This is to be an ongoing habit of life.

"And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying, Save yourselves from this untoward generation." Acts 2:40. We live in a sinful society. A Christian should be different. The saving here is the results of "repentance," found in Acts 2:38. He shall save His people FROM, and NOT IN, their sins. (Matthew 1:21).

Next, one should be baptized as a believer by immersion in water. "Then they that gladly received his word were baptized:" Acts 2:41.

Then they should be added to a Bible assembly for fellowship, worship, prayer and the Lord's Supper, "...and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls. And they continued steadfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers." Acts 2:41-42.

Are there things in your life which are preventing your salvation? Do you know for sure where your going to be in eternity? Only by trusting Christ and believing the promises of God can you know.
