SALVATION QUESTION 112

QUESTION 112
I have begged God for forgiveness, but I still don't know if I am forgiven. Can you help me?

ANSWER:
Forgiveness isn't something we beg God for, but it is a provision God has made for us through the sacrifice of His Son for our sins.

"But there is forgiveness with Thee..." Psalms 130:4. Psalms 86:5 tells us that "God is ready to forgive."  These verses teach us that God forgives, and He is ready to do so. It is not necessary to beg Him for what He is already offering you. It is not something you look for in your feelings either.

"In Whom we have redemption through His blood, even the forgiveness of sins." Ephesians 1:7. This gives us the grounds or place where we can find forgiveness. It is only through His blood. "...that whosoever believeth in Him shall receive remission (forgiveness) of sins." Acts 10:43. This is the ONLY way to get it.

How can we be sure we have it? By trusting in the cleansing blood of Christ and believing the Word of God. The "blood provides it," and the "Word of God" assures us of it." Our part is to trust in the blood, and to believe the Word. Thank God it has been provided, and it is offered to all. Acts 10:43 says "whosoever," and that means you and me. This verse is clearly telling us how we receive forgiveness. It is not by begging, or asking at all, it is by "believing."

Dear reader, "Are you enjoying the blessedness of sins forgiven? Have you trusted the Lord Jesus Christ as your Saviour? There is NO forgiveness or NO salvation apart from Him.
