PROPHECY QUESTION 14

QUESTION 14
We have heard much about the "antichrist". Who is he and what is this all about?

ANSWER:
The word "antichrist" is mentioned five times in the Bible and they are only in the Epistles of John. We can get the idea what he is like from these epistles.

The prefix "anti" means against, so he is against Christ. There is a difference between a "false christ" and an "antichrist." The former claims to be Christ, the latter is against Christ. It is clear in this verse: "Who is a liar but he that DENIETH that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that DENIETH the Father and the Son." 1 John 2:22. His followers do the same. "And every spirit that CONFESSETH NOT that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: this is the spirit of antichrist..." 1 John 4:3. "For many deceivers are entered into the world, who CONFESS NOT that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist." 2 John 1:7. It is very clear from the word itself that the antichrist utterly denies and is against Christ. He never claims to be Him. Read 2 Thessalonians 2:3-4, where he is called the "man of sin" and "opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God; so that he as God (a god) sitteth in the temple, showing himself that he is God (a god). He is called "the little horn." Daniel 7:8 "the prince that shall come," Daniel 9:26, "the beast," Revelation 13:1. He is a great deceiver. He will appear after the born-again believers are raptured.

He will have a false hope for the old world and will deceive many. The only safe place to be is in Christ. When you trust Him as Saviour you are secure. Have you trusted Him?
