CHRSITAN LIVING QUESTION 43

QUESTION 43:
The date of Easter is a 'floating date'; it never falls on the same day each year, why? Is it right to tell children about Santa Claus, Easter Bunnies and Easter Eggs?

ANSWER:
This is several questions in one; I will seek to answer them in their order. It would seem that the floating date for Easter is because the Jewish year, which is 'lunar', contains 354 days. Their year starts in the month of 'Nisan', which answers to our April. The Passover always fell on the 14th day of the 1st month and their 1st month started on the new moon. Since our year is Roman and has 365 days it couldn't have been other than a 'floating date'.

Easter is foreign to the Bible. It is mentioned in Acts 12:4. It is the word for "Passover" and should have been translated as such. Easter is pagan in origin. It is from pagan Babylon; it is not Christian. It comes from 'Ishtar' who was the goddess of heaven. Jeremiah 44:18. The Easter eggs played a great part in this false worship. It was believed by pagans that a great egg fell from heaven into the river Euphrates; the fish rolled it onto the bank where doves hovered over it until it hatched; out came 'Ishtar', the goddess of heaven and Easter.

Christmas likewise is pagan in origin and not Christian. There is no celebration of the birth of our Lord in the scripture. He lived 33 years on earth and not once is his birthday mentioned. The Santa Claus theory along with Easter ought not to be told to children. When they are told these things and they believe them, you are only programming them to become atheist. They find out that you lied to them about Santa Claus, Easter bunnies and Easter eggs, so they naturally doubt whether what you are telling them about God is true. The celebration of the death of our Lord is what scriptures teach. 1 Corinthians 11:23. It is said to be a "remembrance of His death," like our November 11th when we recall the war dead. This was not to be observed annually, but weekly. "..upon the first day of the week, (Sunday), when the disciples came together to break bread, (The Lord's Supper).." Acts 20:7.

Are you all wrapped up in the tradition of men or the Word of God? If you are not saved, men will often tell you their way, but God only has one way, Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me." John 14:6.
