CHRSITAN LIVING QUESTION 31

QUESTION 31:
Some people say that homosexuality is worse than other sins. In God's sight, is it sin regardless of what it is in nature?

ANSWER:
It is true that sin is sin regardless of what it might be. If you steal a dollar, you are just as much as thief as the man that steals a million dollars; but the consequence of the later is greater so it makes the crime greater. Jesus says to Pilate in John 19:11 "..therefore he that delivered me unto thee hath the GREATER SIN". Here Jesus distinctly declares one sin to be greater than another. Some sins has a more destructive effect upon society than others, so they would be classified as 'greater sins." For instance, in the days of the Exodus idolatry and the occult was such a danger to the people of God that God said a "witch should be put to death" Exodus 22:18. He knew the awful influence she would have on people, so she was not to live. Regarding the above-mentioned sin it is listed among the great ones.

The order in which they are mentioned in scripture indicates the degree of them. In Matthew 15:19 "For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts (the root of all sin) murders, adulteries (sex apart from ones own partners) fornications (sex outside of Wedlock of any conceivable nature), thefts, false witness, blasphemies." Jesus puts this sin among the worst. In 1 Corinthians 6:9 of the people that will not enter heaven, we read, "..neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, not EFFEMINATE, (a man who is woman like)." In Galatians 5:19 of the sins of the flesh we read "Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness," You can see from these verses that the more serious or greater sins are listed first. It is not hard to see that Immorality is the worst of moral sins and idolatry the worst of spiritual. And among the moral sins homosexuality would be the worst of them. It is not even natural according to Romans 1:27. To any God fearing person it is repulsive and should be denounced lest others fall into that way
