INTRO: First missionary endeavor came about in a strange way

       FOUR  THINGS IN THESE VERSES
        1-A Principle they failed to keep
        2-A Preaching they began to do
        3-A Pattern they followed
        4-A Purpose the accomplished

PRINCIPLE THEY FAILED TO KEEP V.19

The Lord told them five times what   to do
    John 20:19 gathered==scattered 21
    Lk 24:36     "          "   47,48
    Mk 16:14     "          "      15
    Matt 28:16   "          "      19
    Acts 1:4,6   "          "       8

In some measure this was at work  but Jerusalem only  9:28 (local only)
They failed to keep this principle  so God chastised them Acts 8:1
All beleivers Acts 8:4 "they" of  ch. 11:19

PREACHING THEY BEGAN TO DO 11:19,20

    a) Spoke they word of the Lord
    (Jews only) --personal--
    b) Proclaimed glad tidings to all --public--
Two ways --personal--public--
Two things--Word of the Lord--Lord of the word

PATTERN THEY PRODUCED ( 3 things)

  a) People TURN to the Lord v 21
  b)     "     CLEAVEED unto "    23
  c)     "     ADDED     "   "    24

     four times "added" in Acts

Specfic  2:41 5:14 11:24 TO THE  LORD  (body)
General  2:47  BY THE LORD (local)

PURPOSE THEY ACCOMPLISHED v.26

Believers in v. 21  Disciples v.26
