BAPTISM QUESTION 10:

QUESTION 10:
Does the Bible teach baptismal regeneration?

ANSWER:
This was taught up through the Dark Ages, and is still being taught and practiced by many Church Systems today. This is why babies are baptized. They are usually said to be born-again into the body of Christ, the church. This is pure heresy. It takes more than water to wash away sin. "...and the blood of Jesus Christ, His Son cleanseth us from all sin." 1 John 1:7. "...without the shedding of blood there is no remission." Hebrews 9:22. Baptism is a symbol, of a substance. Romans 6:3 makes it perfectly clear that true baptism is into the death of Christ, and not by water. Every born again believer is said to have been baptized into the death of Christ. The substance then of baptism is the "death, burial, and resurrection" of Christ. If you have never entered into this by faith, all the water in the world won't help you. Since the "wages of sin is death" Romans 6:23, and the "soul that sinneth shall surely die" Ezekiel 18:4, then death must occur in order for sin to be dealt with. "Christ died for our sins." 1 Corinthians 15:3-4. We, (the Christian) die with Him. "Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin" Romans 6:6. Baptism is a symbol of this, there is no life in water baptism. Life comes from God. Literally, being "born-again" means born from above. "He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him." John 3:36. Once again, this comes by faith, not by water.

Dear Reader, why stop in the shadow, get out into the sunlight. By faith, you will enter into the value of the blood of Christ. Trust Him as your Saviour, then go get baptized.
