Thousand Islands Part 2 - Thwartway & Endymion Thwartway Island is part of the Admiralty Group in the Thousand Islands and is part of the St
Lawrence Islands National Park. Endymion
Island, also a park island, is part
of the Lake Fleet Group. Both islands are very close to the US border. Beach on Thwartway Island On our first trip to Thwartway Island, Andrew and I had a ripping trip down the river
from Kingston with a steady 20 knot tail wind! Binoculars were handy spotting
the two pairs of red & green buoys leading us directly to Thwartway (Leek)
Island. Finally, we anchored in the Parks Canada harbour until a power boat left
and mooring can became available. The island is quite large, but established
paths are few, making it seem alot smaller. Thwartway Is. ~ Looking out on the Forty
Acre Shoal. Andrew, Nadine and I made another separate
trip to Endymion - gentler winds this time allowing a glass or two of Riesling
to be swallowed in the cockpit. As it was a summer weekend, space was hard to
find. We circled Camelot and Endymion for over an hour looking for a spot to
squeeze in, to no avail. The water falls to great depths quickly just outside
the established anchorages. We finally anchored at the small cove on SE Endymion
- and had to move in the middle of the night when the wind changed! The stars,
however, made that evolution worthwhile. Carpe Diem through the trees ~
Endymion Island.

across the way - part of Jefferson County, New York.
