The cartoons that appear on this page are the result of my anger at the ham-handed way that the government of Canada has handled the hosting of the Summit of the Americas Conference in Quebec City. The Organisers seem to feel that free speech is fine as long as it is kept 3 kilometres away from the conference centre. To that end they have erected a seamless fence around the old city 3.8 kilometres long, mustered 6000 plus riot police, and using un-sourced "leaks" in the media -- demonized the whole idea of democratic and peaceful protest of this event. Civil society and the public sphere have both taken a beating for this Summit.
