Note: This is the 1st appearance of the layout.

As you can see from the photographs, the layout is still under construction. It has been designed with expansion in mind and has points/switches at each end to make it easy to extend it at right angles to the long edge to form a large U shape.

The layout is N scale and is 6ft long, 2ft 8ins wide at one end and 3ft 6ins wide at the other end. It is free standing on its own legs which are connected to the baseboard with half inch nuts and bolts making them easy to remove. The baseboard is constructed from 1x4 and 1x3 pine with a 1/4ins plywood surface covered with Homasote. This makes it a strong and stable structure.

The track is mainly flexible track with some snap track sections. There are 14 points (7 Atlas electric, 1 Atlas hand throw and 6 Peco hand throw). The turntable is electrically operated. The engine house is scratch built while the remaining buildings are from kits. It includes a controller but does not include any locomotives or rolling stock.

It is not yet completely wired. All the sectional wires are in and connected to the control panel but have yet to be connected to the track. Wiring for the electric points is not yet installed.

It would provide someone with a significant head start on building a layout while providing them with some interesting work to bring it to a fully operational state.

Offers are invited in the vicinity of $200 (FOB Ottawa). Viewing can be arranged in mid March for those with a serious interest. Please contact me, Dave Venables using my email name, brmna, at my ISP, ca.inter.net.
