SALVATION QUESTION 92
QUESTION 92
ANSWER:
You make salvation sound so easy. It is hard for me to believe that it is. Is it really that easy?
How hard is it to take a gift? Not very hard, is it? God in His infinite mercy has provided salvation for all. "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." John 3:16. Gifts are always free, but the giver has to pay for it. It cost God the departure of His Son to earth to become a man, and as a man He endured the rejection of the world who eventually crucified Him on a Roman cross between two thieves. The Bible states, "For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich." 2 Corinthians 8:9. Jesus also said, "Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto a merchant man, seeking goodly pearls: Who, when he had found one pearl of great price, went and sold all that he had, and bought it." Matthew 13:45-46. It cost the Son of God much to provide salvation for us.
It is easy for us because all the work and the gift, has been provided by the Saviour. He cried, "It is finished." John 19:30. Dear reader, "Have you receive that gift of salvation yet? It is yours for the taking. "... And whosoever will let him take the water of life freely." Revelation 22:17. You cannot work for a gift, in order to get it, or keep it. If it is a gift, once received it is yours. "For the gifts and calling of God are without repentance." Romans 11:29.
