SALVATION QUESTION 88

QUESTION 88
I find Christians are very sad and gloomy, I don't want to be that way.

ANSWER:
Although you have not asked a question you are looking for an answer. Don't judge salvation by the many people who claim to have it, or you will come up with a worse opinion. The "gospel" means "good news."

Generally good news is always something to make you happy. In fact, the Psalmist said, "Blessed is the people that know the joyful sound: they shall walk, O LORD, in the light of thy countenance." Psalms 89:15. The word "blessed" means "happy." If you see gloomy people who claim to be Christians, they are either "not saved," or, they are "away from the Lord." Any believer who is saved and walking with the Lord, is happy and will show it. "Happy is that people whose God is the LORD." Psalms 144:15.

Why should a Christian be sad? Their sins are all forgiven. They have eternal life. They have peace with God. The guilt of their sins are gone. They are bound for heaven. Little wonder the Psalmist said, "happy are the people..." It is the unsaved person who is unhappy. They are full of fears and insecurities. They are weighed down with sin and guilt. They have nothing to be happy about. The Bible says, "But the wicked are like the troubled sea, when it cannot rest, whose waters cast up mire and dirt. There is no peace, saith my God, to the wicked." Isaiah 57:20-21.

Dear Reader, you become a Christian when you come as a sinner. Trust Christ as your Saviour, and only then, will you be happy.
