SALVATION QUESTION 67

QUESTION 67
What does it means by having faith in Christ, to be saved? Is it the same as believing?

ANSWER:
The word "faith" in the Bible is a noun. It is not something you do, but something you have or you don't. The word "believe" is a verb. This is something that you do or you don't.

Once you believe in Christ, then you have faith. It is by that faith which you get God's salvation. "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:" Ephesians 2:8. But, you might ask, "What is faith?" Faith is a firm conviction of something you have heard but not yet seen. "Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. {substance: or, ground, or, confidence}." Hebrews 11:1. It is the very proof of that which is not yet seen. Faith is real. It is not a leap in the dark. It is in facts, and not theories. The facts are those things which God inspired men to write in the Bible. Once you realize you are a sinner and unfit for the presence of a Holy God, then you will realize that Christ bared the judgment for those sins at Calvary, and you will rest complete on Him and what He has done, you then have faith.

Dear reader, do you have it? Are you trusting Him completely for salvation? It is repent or perish. (Luke 13:3). Believe or perish. (John 3:16). Consider your soul's salvation.
