What does it mean when one says that they are saved by grace alone?

ANSWER:
This is a very good question, one that not only needs to be understood but employed by every born-again Christian. Today's modern understanding of grace is very shallow. Many teach that salvation by grace covers a multitude of sins. The word itself means "a kind affectionate disposition toward others." When applied to the "grace of God" it means a favourable attitude toward mankind in his sin and needs with accompanying actions to meet every need.

Grace is not just divine favour alone, but divine ability as well. We enter into salvation by grace through faith. Ephesians 2:8, "For by grace are ye saved through faith..." It is grace all the way. Romans 5:2 says that by the same faith we have access to the same grace wherein we stand. Salvation is all of grace and not any of works Ephesians 2:9 "Not of works lest any man should boast" We continue in the salvation by grace through faith Romans 5:2 "By whom we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand"

This grace works but it is not of works. The grace of God hath appeared to all men and teaches us to deny ungodliness and worldly lusts. Titus 2:11-12. Have you received the grace of God as it is in Christ? Only by faith in Him can you be a partaker of His grace. Why not trust Him today?
