SALVATION QUESTION 26

QUESTION 26
Is it biblical to take a "stand for the Lord?" Some say if you "come out in meeting you will be saved?

ANSWER:
After the Apostles all died, for many years it was taught that if you were baptized you were born again. Many souls were and are still being deceived by this "baptism regeneration doctrine." The above question is a modern day heresy that is deceiving many. No where in the Bible does it imply that you should or could "take a stand for the Lord." I understand, from this phrase, that it suggests lending your support to a cause or party. Needless to say, the Lord does not need us to support Him and His purposes. He is the LORD. He is supreme. He is the Almighty. Further, we have no support to give Him. We are helpless sinners. We have nothing to offer. We are "altogether unprofitable"- Romans 3:12.

I am afraid that Satan has beguiled many in depending on their "stand for the Lord." That is depending on what you have done for Him and not what He has done for you. It is generally believed that "taking a stand" is a starting point. Then they go on to live a Christian life and get salvation. This is absolutely wrong. One does not and cannot become a Christian in this way. In the parable of the Pharisee and publican - Luke 18:8. The Pharisee came in with all his good living and was lost. The Publican came crying out, "God be merciful to me a sinner," and he was saved. Luke 18:14.

Dear reader, do not be deceived. Salvation is repenting of your sins and trusting Christ who died for them. This has nothing to do with churches or "come out in meetings" Matthew 11:28, "Come unto me all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest."
