SALVATION QUESTION 24

QUESTION 24
There are people who tell us that we must keep the law and be good in order to be saved. Is this true?

ANSWER:
Proverbs 14:12 says "There is a way that seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death." This verse describes the above people. There were people, in Acts 15:1 and Acts 15:5, who said the same: "Except ye be circumcised and keep the law of Moses you cannot be saved." Man never seems to want to give up trying.

It seems that many do not want to acknowledge their sinful and helpless condition before Almighty God. There are many scripture verses that tell us how we CANNOT BE SAVED. In Acts 13:39 we read, "..and by Him (Christ) all that believe are justified from all things, from which ye COULD NOT be justified by the law of Moses. "Therefore by the deeds of the law shall NO FLESH (human being) be justified," Romans 3:20. "Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith a WITHOUT THE DEEDS OF THE LAW," Romans 3:28 Now the Bible is very clear that a Christian should maintain good works, Titus 3:8. We are told that each Christian is, "His workmanship created in Christ Jesus unto good works," Ephesians 2:10, and in Titus 3:5 is very clear that they are not the means of salvation, "Not by works of righteousness which we have done but according to His mercy He saved us." Good works are most certainly the evidence, but it is not the means of salvation. As a citizen of Canada we ought to pay our taxes, but paying taxes does not make us a citizen. It is the work of Christ for us that saves. (1 Corinthians 15:3-4). He died for our sins. We need forgiveness in order to be saved.

Trust Him and be saved today.
