SALVATION QUESTION 180

QUESTION 180
Are humans really born in sin?

ANSWER:
The Bible is very clear on this and so is the experience of mankind everywhere. One verse in particular comes to mind; Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me. Psalms 5:1:5.

David had sinned against the Lord. He is not making an excuse for his sin, but certainly admitting why he sinned. It is became he was born a sinner. He does not mean that the act of sex or conception was sinful, but that he was born with a sinful nature. This sin principle is in every human being that is born. It originates with Satan, but came into the world of people through Adam, who is the father of us all. Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned: Romans 5:12. All his posterity is polluted with the same defilement of sin.

It is universal in scope. Solomon, his son, put it well when he wrote, For there is not a just man upon earth, that doeth good, and sinneth not. Ecclesiastes 7:20.

The Bible not only teaches that we are born sinners, but we sin as soon as we are born. The wicked are estranged from the womb: they go astray as soon as they be born, speaking lies. Psalms 58:3 You never have to teach a child to do wrong, it just come naturally. All the problems in all the world has a root cause, and it is in the little three letter word “sin.” Murder, thefts, fornication and sorceries are the four sins that will bring the judgment of God on this wicked world. Revelation 9:21

Dear reader, Have you repented of your sins? Jesus said, “I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins.” John 8:24 He said, I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish. Luke 13:3

Repent and believe the gospel, Mark 1:15
