SALVATION QUESTION 10

QUESTION 10
How can a person know for sure that they are saved now? Do you not have to wait for the judgment day to find out?

ANSWER:
This is a very common question and one that many are seeking an answer. Many think, wrongly so, that it is some feeling you get, or going to the front of a church and probably saying the "sinner's prayer" The very question "knowing for sure" suggest something of the intellect and not the emotions or the will.

One verse alone will show you where "knowing that you are saved" can be found. John 3:36, "He that believeth on the Son HATH everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him." There are two classes of people here. Those who believe the Son and those who do not. Those who trust HAVE eternal, those who do not HAVE NOT eternal life. I might add, that believing here means "to be fully persuaded of something you have heard and not yet seen." It is the verb of the noun faith. It means you are fully persuaded that the Son of God died to take your sin away and give you eternal life. If you are, God says you HAVE IT ALREADY. If you say that you are fully trusting Christ for salvation and yet do not have it you are calling God a liar. He says those that believe have it.

There is a twofold believing here. Believe what Christ has done for you and believe what God says about your believing. Every Christian's sin has already been judged at Calvary. They will not be judged at the Judgment Day. Find out the group you are in and believe what God says in this verse and you can be sure that you are saved. John 5:24 and Romans 8:1. Put one foot on the blood of Christ and the other on promises of the Word of God and you are on a sure foundation.

Take God at His word. He says what He means and He means what He says. This is faith.
