PROPHECY QUESTION 43

QUESTION 43
What is the battle of Armageddon and where will it be fought?

ANSWER:
This battle is only mentioned by name once in the Bible in Revelation 16:16; yet it is referred to many times throughout. In Revelation 16:16 we read, “And he gathered them together into a place called in the Hebrew tongue Armageddon.” The HE in this verse is God and the THEM are the wicked nations of the earth. This is clear from other scriptures: Joel 3:21 (God) will also gather all nations (Them).

The word Armageddon is taken from the Hebrew word “Megiddo” and in both cases it is referring to a place. It is also referred to as the “valley of? Jehoshaphat” Joel 3:2. Its location is near the city of Jerusalem and is the plains where many famous battles have been fought. Barak over the Canaanites, Judges 4:15. Gideon over the Midianites, Judges 7. This battle is so called “Armageddon” because of the place where it is fought. But it is only called this because it is a climatic battle fought between the wicked forces of this Gentile world systems and God Almighty. It is called “the battle of the great day of God Almighty” Revelation 16:14. It would seem from that portion of scripture that God uses the forces of evil to gather the nations together for battle. Unclean spirits go out from the dragon (Devil), the beast (antichrist) and the false prophet Revelation 16:13.

Are you ready? Have you trusted Christ yet? Trying to be a Christian, by being good and going to church will not make you ready for the rapture. Only belong washed in the blood of Christ will suffice. Do trust Him now.
