PROPHECY QUESTION 37

QUESTION 37
Is the antichrist a Jew or a Gentile?

ANSWER:
This is a question where Bible students differ.

It is generally agreed that he is the main actor in events in the Tribulation Period of seven years spoken of by Daniel and John in Revelation. The principle actor in that period is the first beast of Revelation 13:1. He has the power and eventually has an image of himself set up in the temple which compels men to worship him.  It is his name or number (666) that men must bear to buy or sell.

Who is he? He rises up out of the sea (Gentile nations). He is identified with the seven heads and ten horns of scripture. Who are they? The ten horns are mentioned in Daniel 7:7 which rises up out of the fourth empire, which is Rome. Amongst these there arises another, "little horn." This is the same language of Revelation 13:1. The main actor in the end times is a Gentile ruler who will make a covenant with Israel and later break it. Daniel 9:27. If this man is the antichrist he is a Gentile, if not, the antichrist is not the man who will rule the world. The word "anti" is generally used to mean "against." The anti-christ is "against" Christ. "Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is anti-christ, that denieth the Father and the Son." 1 John 2:22.

What a terrible time that will be. How wonderful to be saved from all of that. What about you, Dear Reader? Are you saved? Have you repented? Are you trusting Christ?
