PROPHECY QUESTION 25

QUESTION 25
In Acts 2:20, we read about a "great and notable day." What is this, or when will it be?

ANSWER:
This verse is a quotation from Joel 2. It has to do with God's dealings with Israel in the last days. Many of the prophets spoke of those days. Jeremiah said, "Alas! for that day is great, so that none is like it: it is even the time of Jacob's (Israel's) trouble; but he shall be saved out of it." Jeremiah 30:7. This is the same day Acts 2:20 is speaking about. If we would take the word "day" as referring to a period of time it will be a seven year period of trouble that will come upon earth. This is derived from Daniel's prophecy about the seventy weeks determined upon his people Israel. (Daniel 9:24). Jesus spoke of this day when He said, "For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be."(Matthew 24:21).

If we were to think of that "great and notable day" as being a single day, it would refer to the Battle of Armageddon. (Revelation 16:16). This is recorded in Revelation 9:11. The antichrist and the armies of the earth will be overthrown and the Lord will banish the wicked from the earth and set up His kingdom.

Will you be in that kingdom? "...Except a man be born again he cannot see the kingdom of God." John 3:3. "...Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God." John. 3:5. "...Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven." Matthew 18:3. What about you? Trusting in the sacrificial work of Christ is the only answer. The moment you trust you are born into the family and kingdom of God.
