PROPHECY QUESTION 23

QUESTION 23
What is "Babylon the Great, the Mother of all the harlots and abominations of the earth?

ANSWER:
The phrase is quoted in Revelation 17:5. In this chapter it describes a harlot woman riding a scarlet coloured beast Rev. 17:1-3. The beast is the same as described in Revelation 13:1-3. It represents the final Gentile kingdom that will come in the last days. The woman, along with the beast represents a wicked political and religious system that began with Nimrod in Genesis 10, and has continued ever since. It is here seen as reaching the full measure.

It began in Genesis 11 with the building of a city and a tower. The city was to rule the earth and the tower was to rule the heavens. Thus, you have the picture of the first ecumenical movement. God came down in judgment and destroyed it all and scattered the people. This system is upon us today. We have the New Age Movement, also the World Council of Churches. These movements have the same ecumenical objective in view. They are seeking to bring about a New World Order. They are embracing all the religions of the world and all the political systems. This is all totally foreign to the Scriptures. The woman here is the "harlot church," Satan's masterpiece. It already includes many of the denominations and will eventually include them all. The Church of Rome will be a dominant factor in it. God's exhortation to His people is in Revelation 18:3. "...Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not her plagues." Revelation 18:4. God does not want His people to be unequally yoked with such. "Wherefore, come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you," 2 Corinthians 6:17.

The last times are upon us. Are you saved? Will you go in the Rapture? Only if you are fully trusting Christ. He loved you and gave himself for you that you might be saved. (Acts 16:31).
