PROPHECY QUESTION 13

QUESTION 13
Does the Bible teach a general resurrection of all at the same time?

ANSWER:
I don't suppose there is a more common belief that it does, but the answer is emphatically "no."

This is traditional teaching, not founded on the Bible. The Greek word "ek-nekroo" translated in English literally means "ek = out, nekroo = dead." It is used forty-nine times in the New Testament. It is only used of Christ and the resurrection of the saved. Regarding this resurrection it is very clearly stated in Revelation 20:4, that it does not occur at the same times as the other.

In Revelation 20:5 it says, "But the rest of the dead LIVED NOT again until the thousand years were finished." There is at least one thousand years between the resurrection of the just and blessed, and the resurrection of the damnation of the wicked. In John 5 there are three resurrections in view. Two are physical, the other is spiritual. In John 5:29 there is "the resurrection of life and of damnation." "Verily, verily. I say unto you, The hour is coming, and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God: and they that hear shall live." John 5:25. This is a spiritual resurrection whereby a believing sinner passes from death unto life. This is explained in John 5:24 where we read, "...but is passed from death (spiritual) unto life (eternal)." Acts 24:15 also speaks of two resurrections, that of the just and another of the unjust.

Have you had the "now" resurrection? Since all are dead in trespasses and sins, (Ephesians 2:1), all need it. This can be had by hearing His word and believing the Father who sent Him. (John 5:24). "So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God." (Romans 10:17). Trust IN and ON Him. He loves you and died for your sins. You, and your house, can be saved; today. (Acts 16:31).
