PERSON OF CHRIST QUESTION 12

QUESTION 12:
Was Jesus' resurrection spiritual and not physical as claimed by the Watchtower Society?

ANSWER:
This Society makes many claims that are not supported by the Scriptures. There are differences among many true scholar, but not among the important doctrines of the person of Christ and salvation. Jesus said, "Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up. Then said the Jews, Forty and six years was this temple in building, and wilt thou rear it up in three days? But he spake of the temple of his body." (John 2:17-21)

He is speaking of His physical body and not some mystical or spiritual one. He confirms this in other verses. "But they were terrified and affrighted, and supposed that they had seen a spirit. And he said unto them, Why are ye troubled? and why do thoughts arise in your hearts? Behold my hands and my feet, that it is I myself: handle me, and see; for a spirit hath not flesh and bones, as ye see me have. And when he had thus spoken, he shewed them his hands and his feet."(Luke 24:37-40)

There is no salvation apart from the bodily resurrection of Christ. 1 Corinthians 15 makes this clear. 1 Corinthians 15:14, "And if Christ be not risen, then is our preaching vain, and your faith is also vain." 1 Corinthians 15:17, "And if Christ be not raised, your faith is vain; ye are yet in your sins. 1 Corinthians 15:18, "Then they also which are fallen asleep in Christ are perished." Now Christ risen MUST include His body or He did not rise.

Dear reader, you MUST repent of your sins and trust in a Saviour who died for you, was buried and arose again from the dead. He is a living Saviour able to saved forever more all that come to God by Him. (Hebrews. 7:25)
