What is the use of me professing to be a Christian when I know I cannot live like one?
I would agree with you summary of your inquiry. There are too many professing Christian that don’t live like one. We don’t need any more.
As to your overall logic I would disagree. You cannot live a Christian life until you get it. You could not live like a human being until you were born. What you don’t seem to understand is that when you turn to Christ and trust Him as your Saviour He give you new life that transforms you into a different person.
Look at the lives that were wrecked by sin in these verses, Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God. 1 Corinthians 6:9-10 This is a list of people that will not inherit the kingdom of God. If you are listed among them then be sure that you will never enter heaven that way. I want you to notice what happened to some of these people. 1 Corinthians 6:11. And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God. Notice what happened to them:
1. They were washed clean from all those sins.
2. They were set apart from them for the Lord
3. They were justified (declared to be righteous before God.)
How did they do it?: They didn’t! The Spirit of God enlightened them about the name and work of the Lord Jesus who died for them and they just trust Him to do it for them.
Galatians 1:4, Who gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver us from this present evil world, according to the will of God and our Father: Do you believe this verse? He can delivere you from any sins. He not only forgives you for them but He can deliver you from them. It will only happen when you realize that you are lost, helpless and hopeless and trust Him as your Saviour from you sins. Do that today!
