CHRSITAN LIVING QUESTION 66
How does a young Christian get to know GOD'S will in the choice of a marriage life partner?
This is a difficult question to answer, since most young people want to date and get married and usually grab the first one that proposes. I donít suppose there is anything that has wrecked some young personís life than making the wrong decision about marriage.
The foremost principle is finding the Lord will for anything is to be willing to do it even when you do not know what it is.
I visited an assembly some time ago and a young lady was visiting there that told us her experience in getting married. She said that she was seeing this man and all of a sudden he started to lose interest in her. She said she prayed and said, ďLord, if you want me to live and die an old maid, I am willing.Ē There is no doubt in my mind that this girl functions in the will of God.
Paul when confronted with the Lord in Acts 9 said, Lord, what wilt thou have me to do? He obviously didnít have a clue.
So young people must be open to the Lord to marry or not marry. They must not have preconceived desire as to what they want themselves. They must say to the Lord, I donít know what I should do, but I am willing to do it when you let me know. If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land: Isaiah 1:19. This is the idea of knowing the will of God. If we have preconceived plans and then ask the Lord to fill them, is not the way to find His will. He gave Israel their wants, but send leanest to their souls. And he gave them their request; but sent leanness into their soul. Psalm 106.14.
Here is another key principle. I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. Romans 12:1-2.
The most important thing in life is what will you do with Jesus and His proffered of salvation. You can reject, neglect or receive it and Him.
The next most important thing is your lifeís partner in marriage. This can be wonderful or disastrous. That is why one must rely on the Lord to guide them. These are two union that bind salvation for eternity and marriage for time.
