CHRSITAN LIVING QUESTION 27

QUESTION 27:
Please explain what the will of God is for us?

ANSWER:
This is a very broad question as it depends on who the "us" is. In answering this in a general sense of all mankind the will of God is very clear. "Who WILL have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.' 1 Timothy 2:4. In another verse it says... "God is not WILLING that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance," 2 Peter 3:9. The will of God for all mankind is that they might be saved. As to His will in how to be saved it is clearly stated in John 6, that Gods will is to believe on Him (Jesus) whom He has sent, in believing they will have everlasting life. Read John 6:29 and John 6:40.

When it comes to His will in a more specific sense of those who are saved it is basically to be a testimony to the world through obedience to Him and His word. This involves sanctification (separation) from the sinful world, (1 Thessalonians 4:3) and being a verbal witness to it positively. Acts 5:29 Our witness is, not about the church, an ordinance, or the Law, but about Christ. Acts 1:18 says, "ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall BE WITNESSES UNTO ME.." This witness consisted of His death, burial and resurrection from among the dead, as the Book of Acts so clearly sets forth. In other words the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. 1 Corinthians 15:3-4.

The need of a world that is dying in its sins is a message of life in the Lord Jesus Christ. There is no life in churchanity, ordinances, law-keeping or seeking to do good; but only in our Lord Jesus Christ who said "I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me." John 14:5-6.
