CHRSITAN LIVING QUESTION 13

QUESTION 13:
As a Christian, what should I do to maintain spiritual growth?

ANSWER:
This is an important question because many who have professed, have not grown in their Christian lives. There are several things that are vital to spiritual growth:

1. "As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby" 1 Peter 2:2. Jesus said, "But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God." Matt 4:4. There can be no real growth apart from the Word of God. The most important factor is to read and to meditate, each and every day, in the Word of God. It is food for the soul.

2. Communion with God is likewise vital. Spend time talking and listening to God. This is accomplished by the word and prayer. As you listen, believe what God says, and what He promises in His word.

3. It is also important to share your faith with others. Have fellowship with other Christians. This will help you to grow, and to be kept close to the Lord. The early believers were said to be "together with one accord." Acts 2:44. They continued steadfastly in "fellowship" Acts 2:42.

4. Witnessing to the unsaved is also important. The more you share the gospel with others the more you will enjoy it yourself. In this regard you should keep yourself unspotted from the world. James 1:27. "Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world..." 1 John 2:15-17, "...and the whole world lieth in wickedness,.."        1 John 5:19. If you are not separated from it; you cannot be a testimony to it.
