QUESTION 90:
How is it that the Bible claims to be the inspired word of God and yet is records the sayings and deeds of evil men?

ANSWER:
The inspiration of the Bible is clear from the following verse: "All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:" 2 Timothy 3:16. The word "inspiration" means that "God breathed" every word that men wrote. The word could be translated "expired" (breath out). We usually only use this of one that died, so it would not be a fitting English word to use here.

The Bible records many things that are not true and are not correct. For example; "The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good" Psalms 14:1. The devil said, "And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:" Genesis 3:4. He also said, "Again, the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them; And saith unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me." Matthew 4:8-9. God inspired men to record these word, but they are not true. The fool lied and so did the devil. Inspiration verifies that they actually said that.

&Every word in the Bible is inspired of God, but every thing that was said was not necessarily true. He records all the evils of mankind, but that doesn't mean He approves of them. Hence the importance of "...rightly handling the word of God." 2 Timothy 2:15. "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." John 3:16. You can believe this verse and trust Christ as your Saviour and God says "you will NEVER perish." This means, die and go to hell.
