What is the biblical basis for Christian worship on Sunday?

ANSWER:
The old controversy of the Lord's Day or Sabbath is still ongoing. We must rightly divide the word of truth. (2 Timothy 2:15).

The Old Testament and Israel had the Sabbath which was to them a remembrance of their Exodus and national redemption from Egypt. Deuteronomy 5:15, "And remember that thou wast a servant in the land of Egypt, and that the LORD thy God brought thee out thence through a mighty hand and by a stretched out arm: therefore the LORD thy God commanded thee to keep the Sabbath day." In view of this, the Sabbath is connected with the old creation and Israel, not the Church.

In Matthew 28:1 we read, "In the end of the Sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the sepulchre." This begin a new creation. It was like Genesis 1:4, which was the first day of the old. This new creation is characterized by the phrase 'in Christ" mentioned 77 times in the New Testament.

The day the Lord arose from the dead was the first day of the week. The early Christians met on this day in John 20:19, and again in Acts 2:1. Which was fifty days after the passover, which was the first day of the week again (To see this read, Leviticus 23:16).

At Troas in Acts 20:7, they broke bread (Lord's Supper) on the first day of the week. They did their giving at Corinth on the first day of the week. (1 Corinthians 16:2.) "John was in the spirit on the Lord's Day" (Revelation 1:10)

Never once do we read of the believers meeting for worship on the Sabbath Day.

Dear reader, do you know for sure that heaven is your home? Do you know the One who said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me" John 14:6. Why not repent and trust Him now?
