SALVATION QUESTION 96

QUESTION 96
Is it not presumptuous to say, "I'm saved and know it?"

ANSWER:
It would depend on whether you are just saying it, or if you have really trusted Christ and believe God or not. To the person that has done so, it is assuredly not presumption. After all, we are just agreeing with what God said.

Many people who say they have trusted Christ but are not sure they are saved, are calling God a liar. Strong language, isn't it? But here it is, "If we receive the witness of men, the witness of God is greater: for this is the witness of God which he hath testified of his Son. He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son." 1 John 5:9-10. What is the record? "And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life." 1 John 5:11-12. It is not presumptuous to believe God, but it is rank unbelief not to believe Him. It is a very serious matter, to call God a liar.

When it comes to the great issues of salvation it is important to hear what God has to say. "Let God be true and every man a liar..." Romans 3:4. "He that believeth on the Son HATH everlasting life." John 3:36. There is no doubt about it, if God had said it!

Dear reader, faith is only believing what God says is true. If you really trust in Christ as your Saviour from sin, then believe in God and enjoy it.
