SALVATION QUESTION 64

QUESTION 64
Is the Bible teaching of repentance for us today? Some tell us when you believe, that includes repentance. Is this right?

ANSWER:
The Bible is very clear that "repentance toward God and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ," is the true message and the way of salvation.

The two main attributes of God in salvation are "mercy and grace." Both are said to be in salvation. In Titus 3:5 it is mercy, and in Ephesians 2:8, it is grace. Repentance is associated with mercy and forgiveness, whereas grace is associated with faith and eternal life.

Scriptures:
"And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations,..." Luke 24:47.
"But go ye and learn what that meaneth, I will have mercy, and not sacrifice: for I am not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance." Matthew 9:13.

God cannot have grace toward us before He has mercy. We cannot get the mercy of God until we repent. Once we repent, God extends that mercy to us, then we must believe on the Lord Jesus Christ in order for God in His grace to give us eternal life.

Scriptures:
"That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life." John 3:15.

Dear reader, do not try to get God's salvation without repentance. It is not available. It is "Repent or perish," as stated in Luke 13:3. Do not repent and fail to trust 100% is the sacrifice of Christ for your sins. It is believe or perish. God's order is simple. Do get in on this wonderful salvation today. Tomorrow could be too late. "Boast not thyself of tomorrow; for thou knowest not what a day may bring forth." Proverbs 27:1
