Many people do not like to hear people say they are saved. It sounds like it is presumptuous and conceited. How can anyone say they are saved for sure?

ANSWER:
The many people in view are likely religious ones. They are those people who are working their way to heaven, but will never get there that way. People that are truly saved are not conceited or presumptuous. They only believe what God says. If a person thought they were worthy or good enough for salvation they would be conceited, but those that are saved are not basing it on their worth but on the sacrificial work of Christ and the promises of God. For me to say I trust Christ as my Saviour from sin, and then say I not sure that I am saved is to say I'm not sure He is trustworthy. God says, "Believe (trust, rely on) the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved." If He says so, that settles it. The word "saved" is used more than ninety times in the New Testament.

It is often used in the past tense. "For by grace ARE YE SAVED" Ephesians 2:8. Again, "Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but by His mercy He SAVED US. - Titus 3:5. -"Who hath SAVED us," 2 Timothy 1:9. "Unto us which ARE SAVED, 1 Corinthians 1:18. It is rank unbelief to say you have repented of sin and trusted Christ as your Saviour and you are not sure you are saved. It means you do not believe God. This is unbelief. Faith is nothing more or less than believing what God says. He cannot lie, Titus 1:2 He says. "These things I have written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God THAT YE MAY KNOW THAT YE HAVE eternal life, 1 John 5:13. Do you believe? Do you know? You can.
